'Legacy'
Writer/Director behind Universal’s eagerly awaited movie.
Described by Empire Online as ‘small in scale but grand in swagger’ Legacy, written and directed by Davie Fairbanks and Marc Small, ‘is a slice of urban drama that delves into corners of London life you won’t find explored elsewhere’.
However, when Davie read that description of the film, he laughed out loud and said “I thought we’d written an uplifting teen comedy, so it’s interesting that someone would describe it as an “Urban Drama”. Only one out of five characters is representative of urban culture and that isn’t the lead. If Project-X and Spring Breakers are urban films, then I guess this is as well.”
Headlined by Attack The Block’s Franz Drameh Legacy is a tale of five mates - ring-led by Sean (Drameh) - who find their plans to get into the ‘party of a lifetime’ foiled by some bad blood between Sean’s older brother and the party promoter, Damien Chase. Cue a scheme to settle the score with Damien that could have dark ramifications for all of them. The film opens in Showcase cinemas across the UK on 25th June.
Fairbanks started life as an actor and got his break in the Channel 4 television series ‘Metrosexuality’. Since then and over the last decade Davie has gone on to appear in TV, Film and Theatre. While appearing in a lead role in the West End Musical ‘Daddy Cool’, he met and subsequently teamed up with his writing and directing partner Marc Small. He also went on to become the tour director for the multi-million pound production.
Davie first collaborated with Marc, writing, directing and producing a theatre showcase ‘IN TIME’ for The Drill Hall Theatre. Over the past three years, Davie and Marc have co-written four feature films from script to screen: Storage 24, The Knot and Legacy all for Universal Studios; and the independent gritty drama Abducted.
Legacy sees the partnership progress with Noel Clarke producing Davie and Marc’s co-directorial debut, which is due for release later this month. Davie continues to write and develop screenplays with Marc while continuing to work on his own projects. These include the controversial independent drama Lucid - recently optioned by Parkgate Entertainment – the story of a man tortured and raped at the hands of three women, inspired by true events - and Rachel’s Party a funny and original Bro-mantic comedy.
Legacy is Co-written and Co-Directed by Davie Fairbanks and Marc Small; produced by Universal and Unstoppable Films.
